What is Book of Ra?
A five-reel Egyptian-themed slot released by Novomatic in 2005 and published online by Greentube. Its defining feature is a bonus round where one randomly chosen symbol expands to fill whole reels and pays from anywhere.
Who makes it?
Novomatic designs the maths and the cabinets; Greentube licenses the online build to casinos. A genuine build names them in the game info screen.
How many versions are there?
Twelve in common circulation, from the 2005 original to Temple of Gold. They share the mechanic and differ on RTP, reel count and extras.
Is it the same as Book of Dead?
No. Book of Dead is Play’n GO’s take on the same mechanic, released in 2016 with a different paytable and a higher default RTP.

How do you play Book of Ra Deluxe?
Choose how many of the ten lines to activate, set the line bet, and spin. Wins pay left to right from reel one; only the book pays from anywhere. After any win you can gamble it on a card colour or collect.
How do you get free spins?
Land three or more book symbols anywhere in a single spin — no payline or adjacency required. You get ten spins plus a scatter payout of 2x, 20x or 200x your total stake.
Can you pick the expanding symbol?
No. It is drawn at random when the round starts, and all six candidates are equally likely. Drawing the explorer is the outcome that makes the round.
Does it work on a phone?
